Neurobablers

images (15)Back to head’s things, yesterday the Observer published a text on how neuroscience is being introduced in everyday conversations. I believe. The science writers are always the difference between “to spread” and “to vulgarize”: Vaughan Bell talks about it, how the “popularization of neuroscience” is introducing simplifications and misconceptions (at end of article there are a short list) when we’re talking about ourselves. Bell, in his blog, we also recommend this paper, “neurochemical selves” to delve into the issue.

  1. While I do think there are some unnecessary linguistic headwinds in any area of scientific discipline, I also believe understanding the mechanics of how we perceive and respond to be one of the most important things we can pursue as creatures inexorably bound to use these tools as the means by which we must navigate.Having said that, I do accept some vulgarization of the subject if the content and value is not too seriously damaged in the process.
